Originally built in 1837, the former White House Inn is chock full of history and right in the middle of all Harpers Ferry has to offer! The back patio is a dream for outdoor dining, and from there you can even catch a glimpse of Maryland Heights through the trees. The front porch overlooks Washington Street and is a lovely place to decompress after a hike on the A.T. or a bike ride on the C&O towpath, both of which you can begin and end right at your doorstep.

The house has grown over the past nearly two centuries and now boasts plenty of space to spread out, making it the perfect home base for a Harpers Ferry getaway with extended family.

For a full refund Guest must cancel at least 21 full days prior to listing’s local check-in time. For a 50% refund, Guest must cancel at least 7 full days before the listing’s local check in time. If the guest cancels less than 7 days in advance or decides to leave early after check-in, the nights not spent will not be refunded.

We are committed to Rent Responsibly standards. This means we follow best-in-class guidelines to ensure you have a peaceful, safe and memorable stay with us. We care a lot about maintaining good relationships with our community, so we appreciate you following these “house rules” during your stay.
LODGING AGREEMENT: The guest booking the property must digitally sign a lodging agreement immediately following the reservation. The most important terms of the agreement are included below, and the guest may cancel a booking penalty free within 24 hours. If the lodging agreement is not completed with 24 hours then the reservation will be cancelled. The agreement will be sent via text message, so please be sure your phone number is correct before booking.
AGE 25 OR OLDER TO BOOK: The guest booking the property must be 25 years of age or older. We reserve the right to request a photo or scan of a government-issued photo ID. The guest who books must stay at the property–you may not book for others if you do not intend to stay at the property.
QUIET HOURS START AT 10 PM: Our property’s quiet hours of 10 pm to 6 am are required by county ordinance and enforced by local police. If the police respond to a noise complaint, every individual on the property may face a misdemeanor criminal charge and be subject to a fine by the county of $300. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund.
Past noise complaints have always come from groups of 20-somethings. If you are booking for a group of people in their twenties and you think your group may want to play loud music at any time then do not book this property or cancel your reservation if you have already booked. Find another place for your trip so you do not have your trip terminated early and without refund.
NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERA: We use devices that measure volume levels throughout the property (like a smoke detector but for noise) and allow us to respond to noise nuisances before the police are called. The devices are triggered primarily by sustained periods of loud music, not things like loud talking or laughter (which is encouraged!). The devices do not record audio and are 100% privacy compliant. We also have two security cameras that record the front door and rear driveway. This allows us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests.
ACCIDENT FORGIVENESS: Every stay is backed by our accident forgiveness program. Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay (up to a maximum of $1,500) if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time.
POSSIBLE BACKGROUND CHECK: We reserve the right to use a third-party to verify the guest’s identity and check criminal databases to finalize the reservation. Complete terms regarding the guest verification are provided in the lodging agreement, and can be provided sooner upon request.
NO PETS: No exceptions, sorry. Please don’t ask whether we can allow your perfectly house-trained, hypoallergenic labradoodle to join because we can’t 🙂
LIMITED PARKING: There is room for a maximum of four cars in the parking area, and to park four cars requires that two of those cars are blocked in by the other two cars. There is also paid street parking available along Washington St, but spots can be VERY hard to find on the weekends.
BUGS: Harpers Ferry is situated between two rivers–that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are careful some of those bugs will find their way into the house. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food.
NO SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else–butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off.

This one of my favorite airbnbs. The pictures just do not do it justice! It is so beautifully appointed, totally remodeled, but it keeps with the history of the home, with architectural charm and luxury fixtures and details. I felt like I was staying at a high-end hotel, uncluttered with beautiful clean bathrooms, folded, fluffy, white towels on the bed and crisp, white sheets and bedding. We stayed with a group of six friends that all came together to celebrate my 50th birthday. The location was perfect, we walked to restaurants, cafes, shops and great hiking. We did not have to get in our car all weekend. They have delicious gourmet coffee to make in the mornings and a well appointed kitchen if you want to cook and eat in. All of the furniture is cozy, so you can sit and talk for hours, even the dining room chairs are cozy for long dinner conversations. I am so happy we stayed here for my 50th birthday, it was above and beyond anything I could have hoped for or imagined.

The kitchen is well-supplied and very clean. The wifi is easy to connect to and essential! AC worked great as our stay overlapped with a heat wave. We enjoyed the short walk into town. My friends and I loved our stay! My group included seven adults and two kids from four different households. We loved the historic feel of the house, and it was bigger than I expected. We had more than enough space. Each household had its own bathroom. We loved being able to sit comfortably at the dining table together and the kids had lots of room to play. We went on a couple hikes, and both trailheads were within a short driving distance. (One trail was actually walking distance, but we didn’t want to add another mile to the hike with two kids.) When we had issues with the TV, the host responded with the fix. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Great stay in Harpers Ferry! House was really comfortable and felt right at home. Enjoyed hanging out in the living room with big screen tv.. beds were also great. It is an easy walk to all the restaurants and shops downtown. Perfect home base to explore the area. Hosts were friendly and provided clear instructions for check in. They also communicated via text making sure we didn’t need anything during our stay.

This house is perfect for a weekend getaway. It’s the perfect combination of a lovely old house, that has been updated with so many modern conveniences. The home has everything you could need. It is very well appointed in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. The furniture is lovely and the decorating is very well done. In addition, if you have a larger group, there’s plenty of seating and different areas for everyone to hang out. The patio in the backyard is absolutely lovely, and every bedroom is unique and very comfortable. The front porch was a perfect place to sit outside while we caught up with each other, all the while sitting amidst so much natural beauty. Harpers Ferry is a short, walk down the street, and very easy to get to. We also enjoyed several nearby wineries that were outstanding, including Maggie‘s and Walsh‘s. we had a very minor issue that truly did not even need to be corrected while we were there, as we told our host, but they came, while we were out at the winery and fixed it. We were very happily surprised when we got back and saw that. Absolutely wonderful home and host! Five stars from all of us !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Whitehouse Inn in Harpers Ferry! We found the house to be even better than the pictures indicated. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and had plenty of space for our blended family of 10. Everything in Harpers Ferry is a short walk from the house making it a great home from which to explore all the town has to offer. In addition, the kitchen was spacious and well equipped enough for us to hang out and cook together in the evenings. Our only regret was that we didn’t have time to build a fire in the working fire place in the main living room. We no sooner arrived at the home than conversation turned to how soon we could plan a return! The Whitehouse Inn is an Airbnb must stay for Harpers Ferry enthusiasts.

Two families with kids ages ranging from 2-14 stayed here for a long fall weekend. The weather was beautiful and I can’t say enough about what a lovely time we had at White House Inn. The home had plenty of sleeping options and is would be great for several couples or 2-3 families. 3 out of 5 bedrooms had an en suite bathroom. The hallway bathroom was shared by two bedrooms. The bedrooms are large and the master had a full sized futon in a side sitting area. The beds were all very comfortable and I slept great. The dining room table was large and let us seat all 9 of us and it could have easily seated a few more.
The location couldn’t be beat. It was a 5 minute walk to the “downtown” cute shopping and restuarant area. It was easy to start hiking on the AT right from our door so no need to drive anywhere. There are grocery stores no more than a 10 minute drive. Other towns within 15-20 also have great restuarants if you want to venture outside of Harper’s Ferry for a night.
This will definitely be our first choice for our next stay in HF. 5 stars all around!
